Dotterel fouled the guage by about 6 inches. We had an inflatable Canadian canoe on board so went through in that. There were two signs at the entrance, one said no canoes and the other said canoes must carry a white light so we decided to obey the latter. Cheers Graham

They have apparently fixed the leak. I tested it by drinking a few cups of coffee wandering up to the site of the leak and it didn't make me want to go to the loo anymore. Sorted I think. They still need to fill in where the embankment collapsed but the horizontal fencing is still doing it's job. Cheers Graham

We are leaving on Monday. Going via the Birmingham and Fazeley route. I still have doubts about the engine despite a successful 10 hour test cruise. Fingers crossed. On the positive side I visited daughter today who presented me with a box of beer. So worries about the engine are diminishing. Cheers Graham

There are men with wheelbarrows and shovels doing something with the leak. I think they are trying to find the leak, they have been putting booms in the canal and digging behind the 1930s retaining wall. There is evidence of blue spray paint too. Cheers Graham
