I'm beginning to think Lady G lives on another planet to.me. Yesterday we had the plumber in to replace the motor valve in the central heating system. After he'd fitted the new valve he told us the bill would be sent to us next week and he only accepts payment by BACS, so the bank details would be on the bill. He does it that way because he does all his invoicing on the weekend. (Actually I suspect his wife does it) We had our hedge trimmed before we went away on holiday and he gave us the bill, again with his BACS details included. He didn't want cash. Next week we are having a new satellite dish fitted because something went pop during a thunderstorm last week. I paid the call out fee over the phone and they will issue me a bill when the job is done. The fitter that comes does not accept payment. Businesses locally do not want cash since we have no banks in town, and the nearest branch for only one of the big banks is 18 miles away and is only open weekdays, and Nat West only had a van that calls for 2 hours once a week. Even the Yorkshire Building Society branch here in town will only accept very limited cash.

And I've no doubt the National Baton Twirlers will stick their nose in soon, and as usual make the situation worse.

Depends, however I suspect they do have rights over the banks, which these people moor against. I'm sure that when we were there last there were "No Mooring" signs all along that section.
