  1. Not sure if my last post worked so here goes again. I'll try and work out how to PM you.
  2. Is this a mooring advertised on the CRT website that you can bid on? Thanks for Manchester tip. There are reasons why we want to stay in one place, one being a medical thing. Sorry to sound all mysterious, - it's not very exciting so no one need feel curious! We are looking forward to travelling around sometimes but we do need a permanent base. Now, you mention lovely countryside marinas with not much in the way of facilities. Any idea how I could start looking for them? Thanks for taking the time to give me your advice - much appreciated.
  3. Well we lived on a narrowboat in Holland for a year (years ago) but we've spent the last 10 years living by the sea - we know much more about coastal waters and sailing than inland. My husband was a RNLI lifeboatman for years, we spent a long time restoring a huge old admiralty launch, still have a wooden sailing boat for sale (anyone?).So although we are a bit clueless about this new life we're about to embark on, we've had lots of varied expereince of the water in one way or another. Very interested - can we come have a look?
  4. Hi Kim, We'd prefer not to be cont cruising, although we will do that if we can't find anywhere good at first. I haven't really looked into how cc works (but I will). Really interested in the project boat canalchef. You say it's near you - where is that? Could we come and have a look asap?
  5. Hello everyone, My husband and I are about to buy a narrowboat to live on permanently. We can live ANYWHERE in the UK, although as we have family in London / Hertfordshire we don't want to be too far north (so perhaps no further than Sheffield?). I know we are lucky being able to live anywhere, not needing to be near a certain town or city for work or whatever, but we don't really know the waterways and canals,so could do with some advice. I realize asking "where is nice?" is a bit general. We'd like somewhere not too expensive, friendly, quiet, peaceful, green. Not bothered about having all the facilities so don't mind something basic. If you live on a boat somewhere great, or know of somewhere great, or know of a canal or area where we are more likely to find a nice residential mooring than somewhere else ... or can give us any general advice about residential moorings / waterways, we would be most grateful. Oh and if anyone knows of a project narrowboat 35-65ft for sale, please let us know! Thanks very much Emma and David
