Many thanks Paringa, this is the first time I have used the forum to ask a question although I have looked at it for a long time and have learnt a great deal from everybodies comments and advice.

Many thanks Paul, I did try to contact the Lock keeper but believe he retired this month.

Can anyone advise if the work on Abingdon Lock is completed and will it be open once the Thames has come off Red Boards as I read on the K & A topic that there may be some delay due to the flooding. We are hoping to go down the Oxford and Thames onto the K & A in the next couple of weeks.
