  1. Just battened out our 57ft wedged the top and screwed the bottom glued the center with automotive polyurathane sealant better than gripfill it remains fexible if you try to pull the battens off when cured you split the timber any automotive paint factor will sell it, if you can find one wich is a member of the Trade group, on line (i only say that as thats who we buy our paint through no vested interest) use their own brand pu sealant we pay about £6 a tube+ vat
  2. HI just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on vacume toilets , i am in the process of fitting out our 57ft trad having had the foam done i was almost commited to be fitting a maccerator loo, when lowand behold i have been offered a new but old stock sealand vacume loo, vacume generator and holding tank not sure of models at the moment or price all to be disscused any thoughts would be helpfull. toilets seem to be an emotive subject
  3. Hi there all I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on plastic membrane under the floor on a narrow boat, as iam in the throw of a total refit iv'e lifted the first two floor sheets and noticed the balast was wet not to serious, due to a couple of leakey window and front doors, part of the problem being that the floor is screwed directly to the baseplate cross members thus making each compartment fairly well sealed add the plasic membrane to the total length of the floor between the crossmembers and the floor and everything stays damp.My plan was to lift the floor and place 25mmx50mm galv tophat section steel which i have down the lengh of the floor to give an air gap, but if i replce the membane it will reseal the copartments when it sags under the floor so my thought was to leave it out does any one have any thoughts MARTIN P
  4. Thanks for the latest replies, after a bit of investigating today i think i shall go with a pu adhesive/sealant marineflex/ tigerseal or the like plus tec screws as sugested as i think this will cope with the expansion & contraction,as it will give a bit of flexibility once again thank for your help MARTIN
  5. Thanks for your help i was thinking of gripfil but i wasn't sure but i think thats what i will do,then its onward & upward.
  6. Hi, new to this forum tonight,i am hoping some one can help me out, iam refitting my 57ft boat from scratch after a slight fire, not to much fire damage but a lot of smoke damage,so we are back to bare shell, most of the battens have came loose as the were only screwed about every six or so feet, so intend to fix every couple of feet but thought a dab of glue inbetween wouldn't go amiss anybody got any idea as to a good one to use, martin
