Hi all, first post! Bank Newton is where I have my moorings. Do not know about the incidents mentioned. But, the hire boat in picture is from one of the good hire companies, who are very helpfull to all boaters in the area. The Gargrave/Bank Newton lock can catch many a boater out, 6 boats were sunk in a year (acording to the towpath grapevine!). It is only just over 10 years ago that 4 people died at these locks. What is different is last year, the full time lockies were removed from the locks and put on call. (They now spend more time driving between locks than locking?)
