@Tony Brooks, thank you for your advice; yes of course that we think about all of this, therefore we would like to collect as much as possible advice from experienced canals and rivers people before we would go on our own route. I mentioned that is our first experience too, so any suggestion for beginners route would be more than great. I assume that on this forum are very well experienced people and that some of you would exactly know what would be the best route for us as beginners!? @Dog House, thank you very much, this links look really great and helpful!

We have in our mind to see as much possible but with no rushing; it would be our first time on the rivers and canals so we would gladly go slowly than rushing to see so many things.We would have 3 months free in 2013, so as we are beginners on rivers and canals would like to start somewhere from Amsterdam as we know the city very well and than just go to sail... @Albion, thank you very much for your suggestion, France and canals sounds great, and thank you about boat length suggestion too; but what about boats width!?

If you could suggest small boat(that could fit 6 people max.)to buy or rent for that period would be really great too!
