Hi there,
I've an opportunity to buy a beautiful 1930s motor yacht at a great price that would be perfect as a liveaboard. I'd be using it on the Thames and Lee Navigations. However I'd really like to be able to use it on the Regents Canal/Grand Union if possible and it's borderline dimension-wise. It's beam is 2.8m, with an overall height of 3.1m from the keel to the top of the small wheelhouse. The quoted draft is 1.1 metres (3'7"), which is an inch deeper than the depth quoted as an average for the canal on most websites. My question is therefore is taking this boat on the canal simply a non-starter or is most of the canal probably fine. I wondered if there were already boats of this size happily navigating on there.
Thanks
Rob
