So I am planning a holiday on a narrowboat with my boyfriend and his parents for a week and it will be the first time for all of us (btw, we are all young fit, active and dont mind the rain and just want a slow holiday to spend time together).
We live in London and his parents are flying into London (they live abroad) so are looking to hire a boat from somewhere that is easily accessible by train or nearby. We would like to experience pretty views, nice pubs, locks, tunnels and the stereotypical canal views you would expect on a narrowboat.
I have looked at starting in Reading and can see going to Oxford as an option. But isn't the river very wide and not really a canal? Another option is to go to Pewsey. Is this a nice route though? Ive read that it gets much prettier as you get past Pewsey.
Any practical advice on the best place to go or where to hire a boat would be great. Its not an easy subject to search on the net so I am a bit stuck!!
Many thanks :-)
