  1. We have a Bosch heat pump washer dryer at home. It’s ok…… we tend to use the separate condenser dryer which is much quicker! It’s about 5 years old, not sure if they are still made. It does weight a ton, the delivery men struggled with it! On the boat we have a Bosch washer and a Bosch dryer - both full size and will happily run off the travel power.
  2. We moored in Cropredy Marina last year, we spend a few weeks on board at a time and work from home. We often found the 4/5G unreliable. We tried a wifi extender to bring the marina wifi into the boat, this wasn’t great either. Nice marina but decided to move on. So glad we did now as the stoppages are a pain!
  3. We have a built in domestic LPG oven on our boat, it’s Hotpoint, fan assisted and very, very good! I’d never buy a ‘marine’ type cooker again as they aren’t great.
  4. That’s really useful to know, thank you. I can’t think what else it can possibly be as it was all working perfectly. Now i’ve taken it all apart it’s leaking from somewhere, possibly the macerator seal. I thinks it’s best to replace now it’s all out, and given it’s age. I’ll have a look at Leesan, the Therford Tecma look great too. Ideally, i’d like someone to fit it who knows what they are doing. Any suggestions for engineers / boatyards around Cropredy are welcome. We’re heading down the canal towards London on Thursday so can be flexible.
  5. That all all appears to be fine, luckily the toilet wasn’t flushed and I turned off the power to the toilet immediately. It is 11 years old, i’m wondering if this is a good opportunity to replace. I’m having a look online at the Thetford Tecma and Leesan models, anyone else installed these? If so, are they a simple fit?
  6. I’ve spent the afternoon removing the toilet again, stripped back the macerator and checked all pipes - totally clear. I’ve reassembled and still have the same problem. The macerator pump is running, but water doesn’t move from the toilet bowl. We now have a leak from either the macerator or the pipework. Have called an engineer out.
  7. I’m not too sure, luckily I was able to remove the rubber hose to the macerator and the lip balm fell out, I didn’t need to take the actual macerator apart. I’m wondering if i’ve dislodged some scale in the process. I have called an engineer out tomorrow, wondering if I should take it out again and strip it all back……
  8. No, luckily, it never went into the pump and I isolated the power before there was any chance of it doing so. Yes, luckily we do have a porta potti as a back up, just not ideal to have two toilets in a already compact bathroom 🙂
  9. Thanks for your reply. I’ve checked the wiring, the pump / macerator still runs but the water doesn’t leave the bowl. It’s really odd, it worked perfectly last night after being out back together. I suspect it’s like anything, works fine until you start messing around with it!! The polarity is correct, I did try reversing the polarity to ensure there was no blockage in the blades.
  10. We have a Matromarine macerator pump out on our boat. It’s been problem free for many years. Yesterday, someone left the lid open, which is a huge no no on the boat! Subsequently, the bathroom cabinet was opened and a lip balm fell down the loo. Lots of swearing involved! I removed the waste and water feed, and removed the toilet. I managed to take off the jubilee clips to the rubber part between the loo outlet and the macerator and retrieve the lip balm - straight in the bin!! A rather unpleasant job, but I put everything back together and the toilet appeared to work fine, albeit with a little more water left in the bowl after flushing. This morning, the loo will fill up, but won’t flush. The pump is making a noise, but the water doesn’t leave the bowl. Any ideas??? We’re due to leave Cropredy Marina on Thursday for a 3 month cruise, which is now rather stressful as a loo is quite essential!
  11. We had a statesman cooker on our previous boat, I thought it was terrible! The hob was ok but the oven burnt everything unless you put stuff right at the very top. The grill never worked either. It’s a shame as it wasn’t cheap and looked Ok.
  12. We had a legacy cooker on our previous boat, I bought it thinking it would be good as it was fairly expensive. It burnt everything! The burner is underneath the floor of the oven, even with extra baking trays it was a nightmare! On our new boat, we gave a Hotpoint fan assisted gas oven, domestic size with the burner under the floor of oven, no problems at all!
  13. Thanks so much Tony. The second photo is the solenoid valve, I think! This connects to the rear of the control panel and lets the water into the flush. I will give it a clean, hopefully, that might solve the problem. I’d like to try and source a replacement if possible, it’s clearly on its way out. I think it’s sticking open and the control panel does tell it to close - the lights suggest so anyway I will try taking it apart next time i’m at the boat, and then i’ll order a replacement - always handy to have a few spare parts on the boat!! Really appreciate all the help, thank you 🙂
  14. Thanks for your replies so far. When we turn the power off the water carries on coming out, if I turn the water pump off, the water stops - for obvious reasons. The flush comes from the top of the toilet bowl so no chance that is blocked. It’s either the control panel or solenoid, I wondered if anyone knows if the solenoid is a simple swap, or are they specific to the control panel?
  15. We have a Idrosystems macerator pump-out loo, it’s worked flawlessly. We have developed a flush problem, when the flush is pressed, the water doesn’t always stop! It’s currently an intermittent problem but i’d like to sort it. I suspect it might be the solenoid, does anyone know if you need a specific solenoid for different pump out control panels, or does the control panel dictate the flush time etc? Photos attached.
