Congrats Alan on getting so far - a Big Well done. As a fellow candidate I was impressed with how you promoted yourself. I believe I fell down on not being techno savvy and strongly believe what my son has been telling me for years that the computer has become the communication highway. I'm disappointed that you didn't succeed as you would have been able to keep boaters up-to-date with what was going on. I wonder how we are all going to be kept up to date? I was also very disappointed that only 26% bothered to vote. There were many more who would like to have voted but were excluded - what a waste of an opportunity.

I would have thought it was obvious from my 'Statement' that I do have an understanding in order to represent the majority of boaters. One I live on my boat so have a knowledge of that side of things. Secondly I cruise during the Summer months and therefore have a great deal of first hand (or hands on) knowledge of the canals, rivers, locks and the environment therein. So what more do you want?

Hi Everyone, thought I would put my 'Statement' here as well. Like everyone else it was hard to put everything you wanted into 150 words, so I concentrated on who I was and my ability to function at Committee level and a little bit of my volunteering background. What I hope comes across is my enthusiasm and passion for my chosen 'Way of Life' and the need to protect that and the environment we live within.

I'm new to this forum 'lark', and I've browsed the site and I have to say everyone seems very negative about the transition from BW to CaRT. Surely we mustn't start off in this manner, I have put myself forward and I am determined WHEN (I know I'm being presumptuous - But I'm being positive) I'm elected that I shall endeavour to bring a Positive attitude to the Council. Please everyone this is a fresh start, I know all the history of mistrust but that's got to stop we all need to help, even in small ways to make sure that it is a success not put the downers on it before it has happened. I've read elsewhere that people don't know certain Candidates and that's going to be my problem. I don't have the Publicity machine of the Associations, I'm an Independent boater with a love of the waterways and a passion for living on my boat. Is this where I put my 150 word Statement to get it out there to al least a few more than my email contact list? I need your support so Vote for Val when the Ballot Papers come out. Val Lee nb Thistle
