  1. I know about motorhoming as i have been researching and am a member of most of the good sites. I have done this to death so now need to just do it.My idea would be to have a boat in a winter mooring, would this be much cheaper than finding a mooring for the whole year. How much would you be looking at spending for a decent quality narrowboat to live aboard in?
  2. Thanks for the reply, yes wilding was how you described it and was what i meant. I am interested to get as much info on this subject. I know that living in a motorhome is a lot easier on the continent then it is in this country, and i am wondering if it is easier and cheaper to live aboard a canal boat say in France? This Country is not freindly to motorhomers but the attitude say in France is a lot differant.I would like to know what the costs are like, and does the boat need to come out to a drydock for a refurb e.t.c I would describe ourselves as a continual cruiser but would need to dock for a possible 6 months period. The possability in the future could be that we would live aboard almost perminently, but my plans are to split our time on a canal boat and a motorhome. Regards kevin
  3. Thanks for taking the time to reply. We want to change our lifestyles and at max work 5 or 6 months of the year,or less,we are aiming with our motorhome to wild most of the time so want to be self sufficiant so will have the genny and solar panels e.t.c split charge relay ,we are not into campsites and their layouts, for us you may as well be in a house than on a site lol I would imagine that the same rules apply to boating but how possible is it to wild? Is boat living cheaper than here say in france ? I am now thinking of booking a holidy next year just to see what its like for a week or two. Our main aim now is to relax and have some us time and get out of this rut that work has given us,what we are looking for is freedom to enjoy the little things in life that truly matter and to enjoy nature and the countryside. One question though although i want to explore i would imagine probably traveling in the boat for 5 or 6 months and motorhoming for the rest so i suppose i would need somewhere to dock for up to 6 months of the year, splitting my time in the van and the boat. Oh dear so much to learn. lol
  4. Hello and welcome to our forum . . .

  5. Hello all i am new to this site and have been thinking of living on a boat conjoined with living in a motorhome. First of my name is kevin and currently my wife and i are wanting to leave the rat race as much as we can and have already decided that we are going to full time in a motorhome.I have been looking about for an exit strategy or be it another place where we can call home with as much freedom as is humanly possible. When i was a kid i remember looking at boats with my best mate and we decided that we would become shipmates on a live aboard boat.lol,so the idea did pop into my head at that time also. Some 25 years later i am now married with a girl who also wants to live in the same way as i do.Lucky or what. My only downside is that i am not so sure she would be as keen as i to own a canal boat and have as a home. Living in a motorhome she wants to do,but i am sure i can get her interested in living afloat. I gather that living afloat has a lot of similarities with living in a motorhome, but what are the expenses like? Is it cheaper to live afloat in europe say in France than to do it in the u.k? I know not a jot on canal boats and in fact i am crap at swimming lol but i do think that this could be a very agreeable and possible lifestyle for us. We have a lovely pile of bricks and mortar overlooking the sea,but its not enough for us,we want to start to live life again as all we are doing is working to fund the corrupt system. After selling this home we would never want to live in bricks and mortar again and so for us there would be no looking back. This does sound like a lovely lifestyle and so i need to know everything. Thanks Kevin
