  1. Toured the Southwest (by car!) last week whilst "The Owl and the Pussycat" was having her bottom blacked. Stopped in Devizes and had a look down the Caen Hill flight, in the rain of course, but couldn't see any boats at all! is the K&A closed? regards, Keith
  2. ]Hi, have just received an e-mail from the Supercharger generator people who tell me that they will be producing a petrol/LPG version in a couple of weeks. Makes it a bit more interesting. Keith
  3. Hi again, Thanks to all who have replied. I agree with everybody that we shouldn't use so much electricity, 12v DC or 230v AC, but no one has answered the question in the last para of my OP. Can anyone tell me if it would be a good idea to let the batteries sit for a time before starting up a generator to continue charging them when we moor up and stop the engine? We are liveaboard, have a stirling alternator to battery charger which show 160 Amps when charging low batteries. I intend to fit a Smartguage system, and I've worked with electronics and electricity for over 50 years but have no real experience of battery powered systems. Regards, Keith
  4. Hi, I'm thinking of buying a generator to keep our batteries topped up while we are on long cruises, as we do not often cruise for more than 4 or 5 hours per day and the batteries gradually get more and more discharged. We could run the engine whilst stationary, but it's a bit anti-social and annoys us as well. Anyway the question is, should we connect the generator up straight away after mooring up, or let the batteries sit for an hour or so first to allow the plate surface charge to dissipate? Regards, Keith
  5. Thanks for the swift replies folks! Down the Isis lock it is then! Regards, Keith
  6. Hi everyone! We are thinking about a trip from Audlem down to Oxford. I have seen posts reccommending going down through Isis lock, winding and then back up the lock, but is there anywhere to wind on the canal between the Isis lock junction and the EON at Hythe Bridge? Regards Keith
