I seem to have stirred up a hornets nest with my comment about my hurricane heating system. As the resulting debate has been conducted by others I thought it was time I registered so that I can deal with this first hand. To clarify one point, our heating system was not fitted by Calcutt Boats. It was however installed by a Corgi registered marine engineer who at that time was fitting the Hurricane system for Calcutt, both for private sales and to their own hire boat fleet. Calcutt boats have also checked the installation and said that it had been done correctly. Since having the system fitted we have had ongoing problems and ongoing and regular communication with Calcutt regarding these problems. They have come to our boat on several occasions to deal with several problems, but as yet have been unable to assertain the reason why our boiler repeatedly breaks down or when working, does not heat our boat to a required temperature (20 degrees) during cold weather conditions. As a result of this debate Calcutt have now contacted me directly and are coming to look at our boiler once again next week. In view of that I feel it is best for me to bow out of this discussion until after my meeting with them. I hope at a later date to be able to inform you of a possitive and favourable outcome. Aandlin
