  1. Owww interval ha ha! Good tip thanks! I've just had a thought now you've said about about the stop cock not been fully turned off, a few weeks ago I'd been moving some stuff around next to the stop cock and may have accidentally moved it so it's quite possible! If it was that I've just spent hours, £30 for a mixer valve and 25 miles worth of petrol getting to the chandlers for something that could have taken 2 seconds, ha ha! I'll know next time. Cheers! Paul
  2. Thanks Pete, someone mentioned they'd used one of those Infrared thermometers to me the other day and I thought, I bet they're not cheap, but they are, i'll get one in case I need one again but think I've somehow sorted it...... I've got a gas water heater still connected up that I used to use before I got my calorifier and thought I'd see if that would allow hot water to the taps and it worked fine. I had to turn the stop cock on just before the gas water heater and turn the one off that goes from the calorifier through to the taps and don't know what turning them on and off has done but I ran my engine for an hour after that and now have piping hot water again! I don't really understand this still or how even if these were blocked had an airlock they would have still only let 45oC water through rather than 65oC. Anyway i'll keep my fingers crossed! Thanks all for your help! PS: I changed the thermostatic blender valve yesterday and ran the engine but still had the same problem.
  3. I'll start doing that tomorrow, thanks for your help, much appreciated.
  4. Thanks, the shower is a Mira shower mixer, I've had the boat 12 years and it's 1989 so it's probably the same shower it's had from the start. I don't know anything about NRVs, I'm guessing they'll be close to the shower mixer? How easy are they to change please?
  5. Hi there, My calorifier/hot water system has worked fine for 2 years and is now still heating the hot water up as it should to 65oC but at the taps it comes out at 45oC. I thought that the only thing it could be is the thermostatic mixer valve on top of the tank (Surejust 55L Vertical) letting too much cold water in but I've changed it for a new one and it's not that! I've got an expansion tank set at about 32psi. Not sure if this has any bearing on it but have Jabsco 25psi domestic water pump after the main cold water tank and an accumulator set at 12psi after it. The only other thing is that the Jabsco pump has a minor leak on the water out side but only leaks when pump is moved, not sure why the seal isn't any good. Can anyone help please, it seems a mystery to everyone I've spoken to so far. Thank you!
  6. Did you work out what was wrong? I've got a similar problem of the water in the calorifier heating up to 65oC as it should but only getting 45oC out of the taps.
  7. Anyone with Mailboxes etc had any problem getting or renewing their photocard driving licence? The DVLA want evidence that i'm living at the address which i'm not as I live on my boat. They want two of the following: Rent book, Utility bill ie gas elec/water, Council Tax statement or Notification of Tax coding. Well, I could be in the s#1t then. I suppose a bank statement 'might' be okay as one proof of address but still doesn't prove I actually live at the address like the documents they say they want. I can't find any solution to this in any forums. Heellllppp!
  8. Someone had their boat broken into about a month ago at Cropredy, just took 2 bottles of Scrumpy...sounds a bit Finch-like. We need an up to date photo of him posting.
  9. Thanks Rob, but i forgot to say this is happening when revs are above 1500 out of gear.
  10. Cheers Steve, i'll give R&D a call. Something else I didn't say originally is that the vibrations are worse at above 1500rpm if anyone has any idea what this could mean.
  11. Thanks, they are all at the same height, the engine is in line with stern gear and the Aquadrive sorts out any misalignment, I hope.
  12. Thanks JR, These new mounts I put on meant the engine had to sit at the top of them for the stern gear to be in line so I had 4 steel box sections cut and put them under the mounts to raise them as I thought this would reduce noise and vibration but it made no difference so that was a waste of time. I think there might be an error somewhere which i'll have to get an marine engineer to look at as you say cos I haven't a clue. It's a 1989 Gary Gorton boat, really well built, hull in excellent condtion but I think someone went wrong when it came to the engine fitting part!
  13. Thanks Steve, I think you might be right about the previous owner. The mounts I need were £45 each just 5 years ago so they've gone up a lot and besides the cost I thought they were a bit flimsy as i've replaced 2 in 9 years when they collapsed so was trying to find some that were a bit sturdier.
  14. Hi there, erm, it has a PRM gearbox and aquadrive. The photos of the mounts are on the link in the original post. It's a 50FT narrowboat. Is there anything in particular that I can tell you about it that could help? Cheers Paul
