  1. I do hope that CRT cream the cash out of the water companies for this wheeze. All I see are closures for the engineering work (bank enhancement and possible lock additions) and no benefit to the boaters at all. In view of the recent breaches, will this scheme also load more on the existing banks and increase risk of failure ? Also in times of drought, will there be more restriction to boating due to the need to 'keep the supply' running ?
  2. Plan a day and you could get to visit Rugby Boats, ABNB and Whilton - that way you will get to see the good, the bad and the ugly. Whilton will give you the keys so you can lift covers, dig around and generally get an idea what you are really after. Rugby boats and ABNB will probably appreciate a call / appointment where as Whilton always seem happy for people just to turn up.
  3. Answer from the licensing team The Trust's card payment transaction provider is moving all of it's clients from a previous European setup onto a dedicated UK payment platform as a result of the changes required following Brexit, and therefore has meant that we have in effect had to set everything up from new. While your card details may appear to show on your web licensing account, we don't actually hold them, as they are actually held in as a 'token'. Given that we have now moved to essentially a new platform the old 'token' would not be recognised by the new platform, hence the need to remove and update to produce a fresh 'token' that will work on the new platform.
  4. There were no links in the email, i went to my usual CRT login from my browser, logged in and deleted / re added the card details. I have replied to license.support asking them why this is needed as a normal 'upgrade' or enhancement should not require customers re entering details they already have, unless there are reasons we are not party to.
  5. Just had an email from CRT regarding my upcoming auto renewal of my leisure license. The email is giving blurb about an 'enhancement' of the payment processing system. I have had to login, delete the current card detail and re enter it - very suspect, perhaps covering an issue or potential 'external influences' ie hack. Has anyone else had similar in the last few weeks ? We are writing to let you know about an important update to our card payment system. We have recently enhanced our payment processing to ensure continued compliance with industry security standards and to better protect your information. Your licence renewal payment is scheduled to be processed on 22 January 2026. If you originally entered your card details on or before 15 December 2025, you will need to take a moment to update them to avoid any disruption. What you need to do: Log in to your account Remove your existing card details Re-enter your current card information
  6. I would recommend Michael Clarke - http://northernstarmarine.co.uk/ He did the survey for me for my current boat and has recently completed the BSS for us, a good, clear and to the point examiner.
  7. This is in the telegraph - a video of the boat disappearing into the hole .... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/12/22/narrowboats-plunge-into-canal-sinkhole/
  8. Perhaps the hurty word police are onto you 😉
  9. I should have included a laughy face or wonky face as it was meant as sarcasm 😂
  10. It seems to be an interesting article written by one of Corbyn or possibly Zack Polanski's mates. CRT are an evil organisation making people stick to the rules of navigation (when they can be bothered or have the funding to enforce). How awful.
  11. Presumably this one >> https://www.whiltonmarina.co.uk/used-narrowboats/details/8449.aspx
  12. That did make me laugh - so true 🤣
  13. A very good suggestion, we have a vacuflush toilet on board but also have a 'Lidl special' porta potty as the emergency alternative.
  14. We have a 1999 Reeves and get the same boom when the tank is basically full when filling up.
  15. I have to recommend Braunston Boats - they blacked our boat at the end of summer 2024. Nice job, friendly folk to deal with.
