Woodstock Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Hi We drained our paloma boiler over winter and reconnected a few weeks ago. It had been fine until last weekend when it started making an awful noise. We think its air- When we drain, we just empty by opening the thumb screw under the right hand side and when reconnecting- drain through and reconnect the screw Is there anything else we should do?
The Bagdad Boatman (waits) Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 That's what we always did, open the taps and drain the heater with the screw. As it is only one pipe all the way any air is pushed out quickly. Is it boiling? lower the tempreture.
bizzard Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) If your pump on/off switch is within reach of the Paloma, if not get someone to help. Try this. Put as big a pot under the drain plug as possible, Switch pump on for a few seconds, switch off. Remove plug, switch on again, any air should be forced and splutter out, Try to refit drain plug with the pump still running, this is not difficult but you need to be bold and not dither about. If you need to switch pump off to re-fit it, so be it. It will splash water about a bit but just arrange some towels around the area. Do not fire it up to do this. Do it cold.
