It did seem to have all gone rather quiet, but just received and email from our Damian indicating that CRT upper echelons were still pondering the take-a-CRT-employee-on-your-boat thing. So I suppose it may happen eventually!

Entertaining a Trust employee - not yet dead in the water!

Perhaps if you held him under for a couple more minutes....

I got the same email. Why it needs senior management to provide the nominations I don't get. Perhaps it is a case of giving the senior managers first call on taking up the offers, otherwise you would have thought a simple page on their intranet and getting employees to register interest would be all it would take.

Anyway let's hope it happens.

Given their new Chief exec. is doing it even before he takes up his post you would think they hardly need to deliberate if they should follow his example....

We had a meeting with two of the CRT directors yesterday afternoon, and John did point out that the Trust had gone a bit quiet on keeping those who had offered up to date on progress.

One assumes the emails this morning are as a result of the gentle nudge John gave them yesterday.

EDITED TO ADD:

This was not the main agenda item of course. Hopefully we don't need quite as many people present in a meeting just to chase this up. although the wheels of bureaucracy do seem to turn a bit slowly at CRT sometimes!

Yes these things do move slowly. But hey when the employee does arrive he is fully covered by Employee Liability and advised it might be nice to bring a small gift!!

The Trust are very grateful to those that offered to take part.

Presumably they are also awaiting the back-order of life-jackets and hi-vis jackets? And looking into the provision of counselling services for those not lucky enough to get a Huddie trip?

An one lucky employee will be going on a steam boat belonging to the owner of this site so after that it will be all downhill got some!!

Talking of downhill, one of our options that we offered to Damian was down Tardebigge! I hope they get a move on so we can make that one work.

An extraneous word had crept into your response!

Let's hope he doesn't drop that windlass into the canal.

Or the anti-vandal key. I suspect you have emergency spares of both tucked away.

No, but I missed out tap-dancing lessons for tne on-deck post-trip party for one lucky employee. Oh and a death watch beetle venom innoculation.

It is the spare!!!

Hang on do you think I just let any old boat go on this scheme I have tried to maintain standards.

You like living on the edge then. I would not fancy being stuck halfway up the 21 with the light fading and the only windlass/anti-vandal key in the drink.

Yes but John's "Magnetic" personality would rescue the situation! - well it would if he dunked himself in the cut in the vicinity of said lost ferrous item.

I hope you are maintaining a minimum draught of 3ft for the boats used, to give CART employees a taste of reality.
