This has reminded me of an idea I once had to build an international boat swap website where you put in your details and where you want to go and play and for how long and it matches you up with other boaters around the world who are looking for what you're offering.

 

I quite like the look of those large raft affairs which drift around Halong Bay in Vietnam. Surely someone there would love a week on the BCN?

Would be worth thinking seriously about...I have the opportunity to spend a year at Glasgow University but accommodation costs make it not viable.

 

I was just thinking out loud really and wondering if anybody had done something similar...

I want to swap for year with an open canoe and banjo on the Louisiana Bayou (although a year on the Isle of Axholme would probably do).

For a year's worth of accommodation it may be worth checking how much it costs to truck yours north. Assuming moorings are available.
