Benf80 Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Haven't seen this stoppage on the forum so I thought I'd share the information. Tomorrow (14/5/13) Glascote bottom lock (No13) on the Coventry Canal is having a stoppage to attempt to remove a blockage from the towpath side ground paddle. The stoppage notice advises the times as 8am to 1pm. I'm on iPhone, which doesn't want to let me copy and paste the PDF stoppage notice message. Hope this is of use to some
haggis Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Hope they fix the towpath side top paddle at the same lock when they are there :-) It doesn't seem to do anything and when we came down a few days ago there was a bit of brown parcel tape across the top of the wood saying "NOT WORKING". Didn't look like an official CRT notice but we had noticed the paddle not working the week before and didn't try to use it . haggis
Benf80 Posted May 13, 2013 Author Report Posted May 13, 2013 Haggis The top paddle is what I meant when I said ground paddle. This is the issue that the stoppage is attempting to rectify
haggis Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Silly me! I should have read what you wrote :-) haggis

deckhand Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Sorry Matty40s, it just came through on notifications today so thought would post it up. If its been down that long, seems a bit late to be sending out notifications. Something very sad about a boat looking like that. Is it bridge 63 or bridge 36? Notice said 36. regards Kim
matty40s Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 My on the ball comment was aimed at the CaRT person / process that took a month from the aware tape to your received warning.
deckhand Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 My on the ball comment was aimed at the CaRT person / process that took a month from the aware tape to your received warning. I thought it was me being slow, but glad to find out it wasn't. I cannot believe that they would leave a boat in the water like this, there must be a pollution issue if nothing else ? let alone the danger of passing it.
Keeping Up Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 IIt was getting to be quite difficult as the stern cockpit - a foot under the water - was swinging out across the canal as boats passed it. The passable gap, before the trees opposite, was only about 10ft wide but of course the cockpit was invisible below the water so anyone who aimed for the centre of the visible gap would have hit it.
Woodstock Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 It's near bridge 36 still and has spun around -as another post states the stern is submerged in the centre of canal-it is passable but tight and although the front is visible the back isnt Irony is there are 2 contractor boats with hihabs within a few meters
Kiwidad Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) It is now sticking right out into the canal. Edited May 27, 2013 by Kiwidad
