Stoppage: Seend Lock 20

11 May 2013 until further notice

Associated Regional Office: Kennet & Avon Waterways

Due to a broken collar and anchor on Seend lock 20, it has been necessary to close the canal to boat traffic, between lock 17 & lock 21 until further notice.

The nearest winding holes are below Semington lock 15, and adjacent to Sells green Swingbridge 151.

Canal & River Trust apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A further update will be issued on Monday 13th May

We spoke to the CRT guy on saturday just after it happened. He reckoned on it being over a week before they can get anything started but hopefully there'll be a more specific update later on today.

It will get busy on the 9 mile pound...

There is a windinghole next to the swing bridge? When did they dig that, yesterday?

That'll be that swing bridge that's a pain on your own because of no mooring bollards but a winding hole instead.

It's an ideal place for a volunteer.

You can do it your own but it's a faff.

Is this the same lock that they've been repairing for ages, above the pub?
