chris&sandra Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 just got our electric bill from Cart what a big difference from the card system 1 kwh = 0.11013 inclusive of 5% vat our electric has gone up 100% on the new system chris & Sandra
KevMc Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 we pay £10 for 100 kwh at BWML Apsley ... I thought that they weren't allowed to charge in excess of what they pay apart from a small service charge

Having just done an online comparison for home electricity the cheapest deal I can find is 11.12p per kWh + 22p per day standing charge (including VAT). Our current deal is quite a lot higher than that.
Colin North Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 At home we pay 12.78p +5%VAT per kWh with a standing charge of 15.66p per day. Sounds like you've got a pretty good deal to me!

Grace and Favour Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 just got our electric bill from Cart what a big difference from the card system 1 kwh = 0.11013 inclusive of 5% vat our electric has gone up 100% on the new system chris & Sandra I suspect you'll find that's cheaper than any card system
Starcoaster Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 I find that this business about the reselling rate having to be the same as the supply rate totally pointless, when the re-seller can add a service charge per unit of literally whatever they choose and this is fine. I pay 25p per unit at the moment (I am on a private mooring at present, using hookup on a plug-in meter) including VAT (on both the electric and the service charge). I haven't ever even been given a breakdown of the split, although I am aware that whatever the electric base price is will be significantly less than 25p a go! I am aware that this is possibly flouting the rules, but then I am also aware of the "if you don't like it, don't use his hookup" school of thought, and as I was aware of the charge when I arranged to stop here, I'm not moaning as such although I do find it pretty money grabbing! Does anyone else pay more per unit?
