After 6ish months, apparently Hanham lock is now open.

Spoke to CRT a couple of weeks ago and they said they'd be dredging it the following week. Now the word is that it's open.

Might be worth giving CRT a call to check before planning any journey, rather than taking my word for it.

Friday 14 December 2012 - Wednesday 10 April 2013

UPDATE (09 April 2013): The dredging work has now been completed, and this lock is now open to navigation.

----------------------------------------------------

Stoppage history:

Hanham Lock is currently impassable following recent flooding in the area. A large quantity of silt has been deposited in the lock chamber and the gates (that were only replaced last year) cannot be opened. A project to repair & clear the lock is being formulated. Essentially, specialist dredging equipment that the Waterway does not possess needs to be mobilised and brought to the site.

It is estimated the lock will be closed to all craft, until late January. The closure may be extended depending on river conditions that might prevent dredging operations.
