Naughty Cal Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 Torksey flood gates shut again!
matty40s Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Torksey flood gates shut again! I've just been over the Trent at Shardlow and up the A50 to Willington, there is a LOT of water coming down, a good 2 maybe more feet higher than when I went down it in the red last week.
Kiwidad Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Hmmm, guess we wont be going down, or up, the Trent for a while then! The Soar is high ad well, so we are visiting Barrow again!
mrsmelly Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Been out today and down through Holme lock. Rivers up a bit and a bit of a flow but nowt to shout about. Did meet a narrowboat coming uphill and it took him for ages to get to the lock but he was fine and carried on up to meadow lane. Tim
Puddlejumper Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Flood Gates on again 14/02/13 Newark Town untill further notice
Naughty Cal Posted February 15, 2013 Author Report Posted February 15, 2013 Not the Trent but connected to it. The fossdyke is now in flood again. Navigation through both Lincoln and Torksey restricted again. Luckily we are locked in at the marina so no worries for us.
Naughty Cal Posted February 16, 2013 Author Report Posted February 16, 2013 Fossditch open again! Moorings very muddy though.
Naughty Cal Posted February 18, 2013 Author Report Posted February 18, 2013 Flood gates at Newark have opened, again!

Naughty Cal Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 Still shut at Torksey though due to high river levels and high tides on top.
Naughty Cal Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 Spoke too soon. Torksey flood locks are open.
paddy r Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 one day i will get off this damn Witham 28th of march if the river goe's down!
Naughty Cal Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 No chance. That's Easter!
Naughty Cal Posted February 24, 2013 Author Report Posted February 24, 2013 Not a stoppage yet but could well be. Below Newark town lock there is a large obstruction in the middle of the river, possibly a vehicle. Approach with care. CRT have been informed and Newark marina are sending their tug to investigate.
matty40s Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Probably another of the Red Hill tugs....
Kiwidad Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Probably another of the Red Hill tugs.... Could be, they all seemed to think they were submarines when we went past
Grace and Favour Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I wonder if its Herr Kapitan Villiamz?
Dar Kuma Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 Whats the situation up there at the moment, will need to use the trent to get down to boston.
Naughty Cal Posted April 16, 2013 Author Report Posted April 16, 2013 Still sand bars across the locks. They are passable with care and a careful watch on the depth sounder. The bar across Torksey lock cut has got bigger as well. Dont cut the corner into the lock cut as you will run aground. They are chopping a lot of trees down on the Fossditch as well so there is a lot of debris in the water from that at the moment as well.
Dar Kuma Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 thnx naughty , maybe i can use my quad powered bow thrusters....
Naughty Cal Posted May 10, 2013 Author Report Posted May 10, 2013 Just heard that Cromwell Lock is now shut until at least the 18th May. The sand bar across the lock is now a danger to navigation.
