can anyone update us on the Soar levels around Pillings flood lock to Barrow please?

I would doubt that the lock will be closedfor much longer with that level, i have been up there when it's higher than that.

Sorry Ally I missed your post on Monday... Looks like they've opened Pillings today judging by the level in the weir pool here.

The river isn't really full til they have Holme Lock closed and tied when the downstream side is the same level as the upstream side. Yes I've seen that.

Or Knocking on the top of Torksey bottom gates - Also a sight to be seen !

We are fairly lucky (??) on the Soar to still have plenty of flood plain , with the rebuild of Kegworth & Ratcliffe locks & turning Redhill & Kegworth shallow into floodlocks , the river doesnt flood half as bad as in my youth.

We know were in trouble when the Wreake introduces so much water that the cut past the boatyard starts flowing the wrong way !!

Came through from Loughborough to Barrow upon Soar today...all good, all green.

Flood lock was closed at Pillings yesterday but green on traffic lights so could work through it. Reasonable flow through Barrow bridge but current was dropping off rapidly yesterday so would expect no issues today. We've just popped down from Loughborough onto the Trent and the Soar is very quiet now at this end.

I would think it will keep rising, the amount of water deposited in the Soar catchment area today was immense...

edited to add, The Soar at sileby is about to overtop the banks...

I was surprised how much the 'canalised' section above Barrow Deep came up...a good 8" this afternoon....the weir must not be coping by Barrow boating I suppose.

Nope & it's up closer to 18 than 8" up here... They have opened the flood sluices after, what, maybe 3hours rain!!!
