I just tried to change my avatar. Although the new one appears in my settings, it hasn't appeared in this post (or any other). What haven't I done?

Tried again, after removing the old one. Still didn't work.

I can't remember the technical explanation for why this was on the old forum software but I think you'll find if you leave the avatar set to the one you want it eventually changes in all your posts.

Presumably the same reason for it applies to the new software.

For some reason the change isn't immediate in postings.

Edit to add - I see it's now changed....

If you are using Firefox, at least <CTRL>+<F5> will refresh things so you see latest versions.

I assume other browsers have a similar facility ?

EDITED: Because I can't spell browser, it seems.....

EDITED FURTHER: This is down to local caches, so the fact you can see it, doesn't mean others necessarily can, and vice versa - a point that has caused more than a bit of confusion previously. <CTRL>+<F5> will refresh your view, but don't assume others are yet seeing, unless they do the same.....

There's not much room left in my head for all this.

I have a regular clear out, to make room for more.

It's amazing how much useless or outdated stuff is in there.

Be careful you don't chuck out too much, though, or you end up .....sorry, what? Who am I?
