hi we are currently buying all the stuff we will need to fit out our boat and so far have got some great bargins which is good when we are on a tight budget, the only thing i can not seem to get reduced is the inverter charger we want the victron multiplus i know this is a quality bit of kit and want something that will last so i think it as to be this one. the cheapist i have found one is £1593 for a 2500w one, does anyone know of a better price than this for a simular model thanks again for any help.

In 2005 we got a a good deal from Energy Solutionsv, the price then for a 24v 3kw Victron Multiplus was £1800. As part of a bundle i.e. cable, galvanic isolator etc etc, the Victron came out at £1300, we found them very amenable to haggling.

If you are buying multiple items I would suggest try a chandler such as midland and ask for the best discount you can, I dont mean the standard discount when spending over £1000 which is 15%. A decent spend with them should get a better % discount

I paid £1550 for a 12/3000/1209 Victron Combi in August. This was a special price as my 5 year old one was unrepairable. That was from Onboard Energy I didn't but the original from them so they didn't owe me any favours so would assume they didn't sell it at a loss. They didn't keep the old one so there were no spares to salvage. Although, of course, Victron might have chipped in.

I think the OP and other readers might be interested to know why your 5 year old one failed and was unrepairable.

Transfer relay failed.

1209A chargers are notoriously unreliable.

Slip of the finger. I don't know how long my batteries would last.

Ours was the 30A model as 'Joanie M' is gas free with a 7kva generator. On Board Energy said that the board was badly damaged and parts no longer available. As permanent liveaboards it is difficult to do without it for too long even though I bridged the mains input and output.

Have stored the web address in case it happens again but new unit has 50A transfer relay so I hope not.
