I have two good lengths of nylon rope, quite a few years old but in very good nick. Trouble is, when dry, they're very stiff and wiry. Any ideas how to soften them? Don't say fabric softener - doesn't work with nylon, I've tried soaking them for days in the stuff!

Stick them in a pillow case and put them into the washing machine

TRied washing them Phylis - makes 'em cleaner but no softer, even with fabric conditioner

I've got a long length of nylon rope, which I have never used. I once tried to splice a loop at the end but I found it impossible. The plies are wound too tightly for that. I cut a short length off and unwound it a bit. It is surprising how soft it is then.
