Chagall Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Not a recipe but a grumble, whats happened to Brazil nuts? why cant I find really tasty ones anymore, that crack after a long tussle and enclose a crisp white kernel. Nowadays all I can buy are mealy damp things that pop open with little or no pressure and taste like mdf! ....... Bah!
alan_fincher Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Nowadays all I can buy are mealy damp things that pop open with little or no pressure and taste like mdf! ....... Bah! I can't help greatly, but note that we currently have a highly expensive bag of Wairose's Organic Chestnuts that are not fit for human consumption, and are due to be returned. Nuts generally seem poor quality compared to what I remember from years back. Congratulations though on being able to make the comparison to the taste of MDF - I can't say I have ever sampled that orally myself!

I guess I should have said tastes like they could be mdf! Ive taken three lots of nuts back already! .....ASDA do a replace and refund guarantee, so tomorrow Im seeing if Tesco's will offer a refund, too darned expensive to chuck in the bin!
Charles Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 They are difficult to buy here, too, if it's any consolation!
Mac of Cygnet Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I must be getting old, because I used to enjoy a good tussle with the nutcrackers, but I've got a bag of naked ones from \Morrison's which taste just fine.
DeanS Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 It's due to climate change. Nuts just aint what they used to be
