Don't suppose anyone's heard any more or noticed whether/what work is going on? We're beginning to get nervous about whether we'll be able to get out for our summer cruise.

Speak with John Bolsom, He is liasing with the waterways re lifting boats out and transporting them back onto the main line with the warning that this is a one way trip only, ie if they havent reopened navigation when you get back you would have to make your own plans, Stacey Sue is being lifted this week I think and being put back in at Sheperton for their summer cruise.

This could just be a ploy to do permanently what was threatened for the Slough Arm in the past!

Anyone want to buy a canal?

Slough Arm Bridge 2 (Reeds Bridge)

Monday 29 April 2013 - Friday 21 June 2013 UPDATE (04 June 2013): The reopening of Reeds Bridge has been pushed back by one week. Unfortunately removal of the bridge deck has taken longer than expected as we can’t just lift it out using a big crane due the presence of pylons on the North side and the industrial estate/collapsing abutment on the south side. Instead we are removing the deck by pulling it off the abutments using rollers fixed to temporary towers built on the stone platform under the deck. There is also more work to do than we expected to the cutting immediately east of the bridge which has showed signs of movement since the abutment partially collapsed. Our team are working to get the naviagtion open as quickly as possible.

Latest news from CRT - put back 2 days till the Monday. That puts a stop to my weekend plans to move the boat. in preparation of the next week off work.

Grand re-opening last Monday came and went...with no news from CRT via stoppages page. In fact the stoppage disappeared from the webpage but we all knew it was still blocked. Latest news is that its shut till further notice - I guess its better than promising a date and not delivering. Seems the piling machine broke as it 'hit concrete' Could be a while longer. So much for using my week off to go cruising.

Opening now put back AGAIN... now Monday 1st July This is the 4th change and none of them have managed to be sent out to those who requested stoppage emails for the GU canal - although the original stoppage did. Guess they don't want too many people to know.

Rumble - don't know about Tuesday I was there last week (had the week off to go cruising!)

Slough Arm now open to boats - towpath should be open in a few days. Now, how to cope with all the weeds that have grown in the cut - you can almost walk across the water.
