Nice to resurrect a well written and informative thread which hasn't wandered off for pages well off topic!

Although I wasn't especially concerned about doing this, I am now even more at ease after reading this thread. Just one thing however is that I am wondering if anyone has noticed if these immersion heaters are all the same. I don't see why they would be different but the thread and diameters could differ. Since it's all internet stuff these days it's easier to get it right first time! I was going to fit a gas water heater but this seems far more sensible and a fraction of the price.

Kind thanks!

I also have a 1kw immersion heater and with it on 24/7as well as using a battery charger washing machine electric kettle etc, only used around a fiver of electric a week.

I do find that when I have used the engine to heat the water, it gets much hotter. Make sure that when you fit the tank you can get to the controls easily, do NOT build a cupboard over the top of the re set and temp control button! You can guess how I have learnt this lesson!
