Victor Vectis Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 I have just had the email from John Carrington with the entry form. Team 'Red Wharf' posted ours off last week (Not that we're keen or anything, oh no)
wrigglefingers Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Team 'Red Wharf' posted ours off last week (Not that we're keen or anything, oh no) Team Cobbett is on the hoof too and looking for crew. In view of our form last year, I am leaving Swan Lane Wharf on Boxing Day to ensure that we make it to the start point in time.

the_wheels Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 I wanted to do this last year but getting the family (crew) to commit at short notice was impossible. This year I am going to bring up the challenge on Xmas day when we will be altogether at the same table :-) The promise of plenty of beer should work with my brother in law But the other outlaws will need more to commit to this weekend. Any suggestions would be welcome including, strategy benefits and bribery, and maybe I'll hold the trophy at the end of may and thank my mum dad agent and fans for making it all possible. And have a few beers
Capt Ahab Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Sadly no Wand'ring Bark this year. The preserve business has taken off and we will be exhibiting at Crick. http://wildsidepreserves.co.uk/ Andy
john6767 Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 So has anyone else had the information pack yet, it came yesterday. I have just finished updating my spreadsheet with the new points scoring scheme, not that I am keen you understand. I does seem like the BCNS have it in for Muskrat; the rules seem to be saying only a certain pair is going to win this year .
Little Else Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 So are we all getting ready for this marathon event? Are your anti wheelbarrow shields being tested in preparation for the Tame Valley? Have routes been planned? Does Unkle Richard have a wet suit ready for this years dunkin? Can you tell I'm looking foreword to it already?
RLWP Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 I have a new, skinny pair of Speedos Richard Bet that's an image you didn't want
john6767 Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 The route is all planned, although I bet we tinker with it some more.
Little Else Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 I have a new, skinny pair of Speedos Richard Bet that's an image you didn't want To wear under the wet suit. That's the only way I can prevent that image corrupting my mind.
RLWP Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 A wet suit!!! Do you think I'm made of money!!! Richard
Little Else Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Then you will have to go in fully clothed. You may wear the budgie smugglers underneath if you must. There are certain standards to be upheld on the challenge.
beerbeerbeerbeerbeer Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Only a month of sleep nights left! Why can't I open the secret envelope?
Victor Vectis Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Only a month of sleep nights left! Why can't I open the secret envelope? If they told you................................................... it wouldn't be a secret Anybody need a ships cat? Red Wharf now boasting plus one feline! Thank you Tiggy
Laurie Booth Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Not long to go now. Looking forward to meeting all the folk again.
Odana Posted May 9, 2013 Author Report Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Team Poppy wussing out. We will save ourselves for Pelsall. Two runs up to that part of the world in a month is too much, so we picked one. We will make use of car to come drink beer with the winners in Longwood though. Edited May 9, 2013 by Odana
RLWP Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) That's a shame. So, who is in then?: Team Tawny Owl Carrie Red Wharf Goliath Firefly Who else? Richard Edited May 9, 2013 by RLWP
Laurie Booth Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Plus a boat moored next to us "C&G Narrowboats"
Nine of Hearts Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Who else? El Gato will be there, although sans small crew as the goalposts moved on that one at the last minute. Am going to break with tradition and try a different route to the Manor. (one doesn't want to break with too much tradition)
john6767 Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 All planned here, and boat move started, looking forward to it. Let's hope for better weather this year.
RLWP Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Team Tawny Owl Carrie Red Wharf Goliath Firefly Imperator The Cat Who Walks By Himself Cobbett Laurie, are C&G Narrowboats forum members? With The Cat, Carrie and Cobbett, there is going to be fierce competition for the wooden spoon again Richard Edited May 9, 2013 by RLWP
beerbeerbeerbeerbeer Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I got two mates coming up in a car to join me. The idea is they dump the car at the finish point then make their way by bus or taxi to wherever I decide to start from. Is this boat club we finish at a good place to leave a car over the weekend? I thought I might ring them and ask. I guess I'm not the only one needing to park a car. Thanks Glenn

Thanks Glenn As I remember there's not really a lot to the boat club, but there is an area by the visitor moorings where you can leave a car. Or you could leave it in Aldridge town centre a short distance away, or in a suitable hostelry carpark.
