Athy (& Mrs Athy) aboard "Trojan" at the Shackerstone festival today.

Hoorah! If I'd known that we were going to be photographed I would have repainted the stove chimney.

We also passed 'Chertsey' somewhere on our recent travels (which were Cropredy to Shackerstone and return), but there was no sign of life aboard.

Always helpful when people do this.

Without going up there I now know....

1) CRT's "Teflon" mooring bollard hasn't come unstuck again yet.

2) The cover is still on the front.

3) None of the offside milk bottle "weights" appear punctured.

4) It looks like she doesn't need pumping out yet.

If someone could post another picture in about a week, it would be really helpful!

Nooo, that's not like Reg. That is a one of the GU Town class boats, but I am not aware of a boat called "Penny."

Fenny is a "Big Woolwich" Harland & Wolff "Town" class boat.

It used to operate as a fuel boat "Fenny Fuels" I think.

It has an amount of living space in an extension forward of the engine room.

From memory it has been shortened from 71' 6" to about 56 feet (mabe plus or minus a foot!).

I'd give it a home!

Edit: To correct spelling of "Wolff"

Fenny is indeed a lovely boat, I managed to have a poke about when it was on brokerage at new and used at Mercia Marina when we moored there. It wasn't there very long at all before it sold.

LOL - thanks for the "boat spotting guide" Ian :)

hopefully both will be at this years rally and I can compare the differences first hand

The current owner of Fenny isn't much of a talker. We were heading up to the winding 'ole past bridge 107 and he was out and about tidying up and I commented on what a lovely boat it was, nothing; so I repeated myself in a louder voice (though I'm rarely accused of being overly quiet), again nothing....so he got my standard "y'all have a nice day", maybe he's one of those who think wide beams shouldn't be allowed on his canals or maybe he was just suffering from constipation - either way we had a lovely little day trip :)

Or he could have hearing difficulties? smile.png

I've a feeling it may have a Lister, so his hearing may well be damaged!

I've always found the owners of this boat friendly enough.

Boaters - often older, often men, often exposed to loud engines, often exposed to loud rock music/ heavy engineering in youth, often deaf.

More than once I've had to grab Alan and steer him back towards the person who spoke to him at a rally before they think he's ignoring them. I'm not always there...

All joking aside, Dave did say this after we passed, I wasn't all that convinced as he was looking right at me when I spoke; but he could have just been in a hurry to finish what he was doing as well, as he wasn't about when we came back down about 1/2 hour later. Either way, it's not a big deal. It's still a nice looking boat and I do hope to see it at the rally, so can hear what it sounds like when running.
