Please can we have a photo of Roger working the gear?

 

That would be a unique collectors' item.

Lets hope not !! locks and bridges etc are definately womens work us blokes should never get off the boat, we could offer encouragement though such as PUSH HARDER.................

Too many wimpish men around these days. So many haven't got the strength to work a lock. I've got a REAL man.

We are now on a third plan.

After checking with waterscape we set off only to be stopped by BW. We lock the gates at 1pm - 'you do? nothing on the website. There is a notice at the bottom of the locks which is a fat lot of use.

How long have you been moored at Reading? and you didn't know about the Caen Hill winter lock operation times?

 

If you had put your brain in gear and thought about it, any later than a 1.30 start and it would be dark before many people got to the top of the flight, which BW presumably believe would be a H&S risk, especially with so many hirers on that section (even in the winter)

Is three days a record?

It took 4hrs to reach the cafe where we have moored for the night. Some fish had to be rescued/relocated, then there was some welding being done.

Hopefully we get to the top tomorrow.

How long have you been moored at Reading? and you didn't know about the Caen Hill winter lock operation times?

 

If you had put your brain in gear and thought about it, any later than a 1.30 start and it would be dark before many people got to the top of the flight, which BW presumably believe would be a H&S risk, especially with so many hirers on that section (even in the winter)

We haven't been moored at Reading, which is why we are going up Caen Hill. We got to lock 28 by 13:05 so no problems there. Luctor didn't know that they closed that early either and there is nothing on waterscape.

I distinctly remember you refering to being moored at Reading last year, and if you have ben on the K&A for that long, do you not talk to other people? I accept that Henk may not know, but then he has only been on the K&A a few months, you have been around for yonks.
