Hi we really need some help tonight, we aaquired some 2v batteries from someone over A Year ago and have been on shore power in a marina since been topping them up with the filler system I hope every few months. We have come to run the inverter tonight and the voltage acording to the inverter drops after 5-10 mins t below 10v and it shuts off. I would think it would mean one or all of the batteries are not holding charge but I don't know what voltage each one should be to find the nackered one suposed to be off out at weekend so need to know if I need new ones or not by then and go get some.

Divide those voltages by 6 to give you a rough idea of what the voltages should be for a single cell at any particular SoC. I'd be looking for one or two falling below the rest.

But check the overall voltage too. It could be dodgy connections between the batteries and the inverter.

Thanks so much will check them in the morning and the wireing too if they are will then nip to the local battery place and see if I can get other or if it's worth trying to replace the hopefully one or two. Or even better it's the wiring :0)

A man came this morning and put a gadget on the Bart's and it said bad no charge coming out something about low chranking amps so bats had high voltage but no charge don't understand it. So ordered new batteries 4 trojen T145. And will fit tommorrow when they come. Now just need to do something with the old ones that we can not even lift :-) thanks everyone

It could have been that just one cell is knackered, all the others are perfect, and he'd have got the same result.

He said that but we got them really cheap to start with so recovered most of the cost to scrap and the trojans are now in wired up as per this forum and working nicely I hope I think I will get on better with these and they are swo muxh smaller I can nerly lift them :-)

Batts fullly charged and just tryed inverter and was holding steady at 12.2v got the genny on board and ready to go to our new moorings in the morning nice steady run there :-)

Just need to sort the victron battery monitor out now as can not seem to get it to work properly its the little blue box one seems to show that amps go out and also in to the battery when not charging and voltages seem low

Was that with or without load on the inverter?

Just checked my voltage, 25.1v and that with fridge running (240v), laptop charging/running, two table lamps (flourescent).

ps, Mine is a 24v system, so equivalent to to 12.5v (rounded down)

Was with normal load on the inverter lots of stuff on just to test as we are still on mains power till tomorrow then will be going round turning stuff off

Shoreline disconnected then. ;)

So you will be turning on the charger and getting them fully charged by the time you disconnect from shoreline. :D
