Apart from which John Hurt is a famous son of Derbyshire, not Lincolnshire.

Not Mississippi, then?

I am not a Dr. Who fan, but I can imagine Patrick Stewart restoring to the role the gravitas which Bill Hartnell gave it, in the days when I did watch the programme.

I thought that was the folk the other side of the Pennines, since the downturn of the black pudding weaving industry..

Yorkshire folk are far too busy out with their ferrets and whippets, catching dinner and racing pigeons, to be laying about or signing on.

Edited to add: It should also be noted that "signing on" implies a certain level of literacy that just does not exist in Yorkshire.

Ah, that will be why us western intellectuals make the daily journey east to do the clever work.

As I always explain when asked why I go so far to work, its like missionary work.

No you misunderstood which position they were referring to.

Well, yorkshire does have it's puddings. What do the other counties have to boast about?

Dr Who needs a proper doctor, not a pin up loveydovey

... but will have more dignity and gravitas

... Matt Smith, in my opinion, is the worst doctor since Colin Baker and the sooner he overacts himself into the distance the better.

Personally I think Patrick Stewart should have a crack at it but I know it won't happen.

You guys dio realize that this TV show is a sci-fi fantasy aimed primarily at teenagers, right?

You'll be moaning about the lack of respect for teachers shown in Grange Hill next. The doctors I grew up with were a pimped up Edwardian dandy and the most loved-up overacting ham that has ever graced this planet. Sheesh.

You have a point about Grange Hill...It was never the same since Mrs McClusky left.

Now she knew how to keep order in school!

I understand Nigel just fine in fact I'm not sure anyone who has expressed an interest in Sci-Fi TV shows has suggested that they don't understand him.fatigue.gif

I watched Doctor Who on Saturday night and right at the end they introduced the next doctor.

An aged sad looking individual who is not going to appeal to some young pretty sidekick nor is he likely to be leaping around rolling his eyes like a mad thing but will have more dignity and gravitas

John Hurt

Bring back William Hartnell!

Is Nigel Moor real? I thought he was a character out of the twilight zone a bit like Rumpol of the baily

No but he might be related to Rumpole of the Bailey Edited by Maffi
