Geordie.narrowboat Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Excuse my ignorance, why the little wheels at the bow next to the canopy? Edited July 3, 2014 by Geordie.narrowboat

I'll leave him to confirm if he sees this thread but ISTR they were to keep the front cabin edges off tunnel walls. No idea if they worked or not. It's actually quite an interesting boat, no tiller for example. Edited July 3, 2014 by The Dog House

I fitted the wheels the year before, but our liveaboard ccing was forcibly curtailed before we could test them. However last year we cruised from Snaygill to Devizes and can report the wheels were successfull in protecting the cratch cover in tunnels with a profile that touched the cabin top before the gunwales. Would have liked to try them going upstream in Chirk tunnel, instead of crabbing with bow rubbing along the towpath on the s/board side and stern into the port wall we could just run the wheel along the port wall and crab that way. I got the idea from a boat that cruises there regularly, he had just one wheel on the port side specifically for the Chirk tunnel. Edited July 3, 2014 by nb Innisfree
