Sadly no. The Chichester & Arundel is filled in at Hunston ( Farm Building) has the A259 Chi to Bognor Rd built over the line at Colworth. The line from there to Wood Farm crossing is filled in as is Lidsey Oil Field to the Barnham & Bognor railway then again through Yapton. Burndell Farm Bridge survives but the housing association that owns that section are hostile. Then finally the line across the airfield and to the locks at Ford is again largely filled in
You hit the nail there Peter.
So put the current situation in to a picture
Salterns sea lock is inoperable with the south side harbour training wall collapsing, the gates are shot with the lock piled off at the lock head. From there to Casher Lock is used by Premier Marinas as residential moorings, Casher Lock has a concrete dam in the top gate position. Premier reckon it would cost £5M to get Salterns lock sorted ( total rubbish figure ) I'd estimate £350K based on costings for other locks I've been involved with. Cutfield Bridge and Crosbie Bridge could be made to lift or swing again £150K per bridge would cover it but the issue is the constant traffic off the Manhood Peninsula
Dredging cost aren't that much for the mile of derelict section.
The you are into the domain of the Anti Restoration Ship Canal Trust which took over the P&A Canal Society the current directors are all against extending the current limit of Navigation and like it as a little private boat club full of toffee noses. West Sussex Country Council ( the owners) aren't interested either.
The C&A has small group of volunteers Friends of the Hunston to Ford Canal who maintain the remaining sites and the towpath
