New members with a post count of 2 or less will not automatically have access to the Chat or PM (private message) system as a spam limitation measure.

This forum is intended to be a family forum and the language and terms used should reflect this. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, speculative, inaccurate, aimed to deceive, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, inflammatory, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or engage in or promote illegal activities. This includes the use of inappropriate usernames, or duplicate identities aimed to deliberately deceive. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have the permission of the copyright owner.

The forum is moderated by a number of nominated members; these can be identified by the title 'Site Crew' beneath their name. It is their responsibility to make sure, where possible, that discussion remains focused, relevant, on topic and within the rules and guidelines stated on this page. We reserved the right to edit, change, or delete any post deemed unsuitable, or not within the rules on this page, we also reserve the right to retain posts made to the site. The site crew reserve the right to limit or suspend access to members, and revoke membership at any time. Site crew do not have to provide a reason for any decision made, however where appropriate a reason shall be provided. Any person posting in the forum is legally responsible for what they post. Canal World, the site crew and administrators accept no responsibility for anything which is posted, and the consequences of such.

Our aim is to provide a forum for focused, high quality discussion. We therefore request that with the exception of the 'Virtual Pub' forum, all posts should be kept on topic and free from 'banter' or similar other such material. This facilitates quality discussion and is for the benefit of all members. Users may only use this facility if they agree to the above.

In summary; members are required to conduct themselves in a reasonable fashion in the way that they post and the way that they behave and react to others, members who are seen to break the rules, site ethos, or to repeatedly incite disruption on the forum will be reprimanded accordingly.

This site shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales. Anything which may be construed as illegal activity may be reported to authorities, along with any details held regarding the member(s) involved. Please note that all content on this site is © Copyright of its respective owners, permission should be sought from the content owner before reproducing any aspect of this site.

The site crew aim to remain as transparent as possible. We endeavour to ensure that all actions taken are fair and in line with the site policies and to intervene only where a topic or post is in breach of the forum rules and guidelines as outlined above, where the post formatting or spelling has failed to a point where it severely affects the ability to read and make sense of the post and topic, where the replies have drifting away from the topic of discussion, are deliberately destructive. Moderators will attempt to split/move topics to a more appropriate forum where possible before closing a topic.


No commercial advertising of product, services, or anything else is permitted on the forum, either in public posts or via private messaging, and private for-sale adverts must be posted in the dedicated sections provide. The owner may permit advertising to at his sole discretion. Within the context of discussion, information about the use of, the location of and the price of products is permitted. Member are permitted to place links to commercial and personal websites in the Links Directory, under the relevant section, this is not intended to house adverts or for link to commercial sites in which the member has a vested interest.

A link to one personal and non-commercial website is allowed in your signature.

Warn System

If found in breach of the rules members may be warned using the warn system, your warning level is only visible by yourself and the site crew, shown by the side of each post. Members receiving three or more warnings, or found in major breach of forum rules will have their account suspended or access revoked. In addition members may have their account temporarily placed on to moderator approval or suspended while an appropriate longer term action is considered. While under moderator approval each post made will be vetted by a member of the site crew before it made visible to the public, which may take up to 24 hours in some cases.

Any threat to a member of the site, to the site crew will result in an instant ban and the offender may be reported to the police and/or the relevant ISP. All rules and guidelines are subject to change, a current version is available at this location.
